EXTRASTATECRAFT: The Power of Infrastructure Space

In the evolution of world, architecture has often changed. Repeatable formulas and spatial products make the most of the space in the world. Now, not only buildings but also entire cities have become spatial products that typically reproduce the free zone. Such world cities like Shenzhen or Dubai. The Generic City is a city free of context, history and identity. It is a blank slate, allowing its inhabitants to make of themselves what they will.

Infrastructure is then not the urban substructure, but the urban structure itself. Space has become a mobile, monetised, almost infrastructural technology. The transformation of technology and living make the paradigm shift towards the shaping of the cities. The generic city in the zone is produced according to infrastructural technology. Some of the world’s most radical changes are being written in the language of this almost infrastructural spatial matrix. Infrastructure space, with the power and currency of software, is something like an operating system for shaping the city.

In her discussion of “zoning technologies, “the anthropologist Aihwa Ong notes that Carl Schmitt’s definition of exception is a useful tool in analysing the “variegated sovereignty” present in global trade. Yet, she argues, “The sovereign exception that I am interested in here his not the negative exception that suspends civil rights for some but rather positive kinds of exception that create opportunities, usually for a minority, who enjoy political accommodations and conditions not granted to the rest of the population.” This is the interest of the zone in preference to non-state violence like capitalism. Administrators of the zone can have their own control to the design of space without regulation from the government. From the Schmitt’s theory on the state of exception there is the meaning that the essence of sovereignty as the decision over what is an exception is the power to define; Schmitt writes, “for a legal system to make sense, a normal situation must exist, and he is sovereign who definitely decides whether this normal situation actually exists”. Height restrictions, space standards and rent controls have advantage and disadvantage in most of the city but the problem has been created under poor management system

Chaos may arise out of order; cowardice may be born from bravery; weakness may come from strength. Bringing order out of chaos depend upon enumeration: eliciting bravery from cowardice depend upon configuration; developing strength from weakness depends upon formation A leader will anticipate and prevent the unexpected circumstances. A chaotic condition will happen now how well the environment actually is. How to manipulate the condition and exploit the opportunity will bring the success of the new city development. Zingonia is a good example of chaos from order. Without the necessary infrastructure behind it as support the well planned order is not sustainable and chaos ensues

If you know your opponent and you know yourself, victory will not be at risk; if you know heaven and you know earth, your victories will be unlimited.
It is also important to understand the overall competitive and industry trends occurring around you in order to have a feel for the “terrain” on which you will do battle. Treat study if important in city planning.
